Hey friends! I’ve been getting a bunch of questions from you guys lately.
When is the next Damned Girl book coming out? When will we find out what’s going on in the Sydney Baxter & Co. office? How do you get your hair to look so amazing?
And, most often, when is the next Charlie book coming out? (It’s been delayed. Again. Yes, I know it’s a New Year book. Yes, I know February isn’t exactly the New Year. Yes, my resolution to hit my deadlines is going really well. If you think my characters are unreliable, wait until you meet me.)
So I thought maybe I should write a post just letting you all know what’s going on.
Basically, at the start of the year, I decided I wanted to write and publish a million words this year.
I opened up my Google calendar and planned out my entire year. I figured out how many words I was going to write every day and factored in time for editing and planned what books I’d release when and basically just forgot entirely what kind of person I am.
Because come on, when have I ever, in my entire life, been organised enough to follow a schedule?
So now that I’m a month in and I’ve realised that I haven’t turned into an entirely new and less fundamentally flawed Clarey for 2018, I’ve been rethinking my writing goals.
I’m still shooting for a million words, which should work out to around 20 books by the end of the year.
BUT I’m not setting a strict schedule for when I’ll write them.
Instead, I’m just going to write what I feel like on any given day. I’ll still be writing and publishing a bunch, but without the stress of deadlines.
Because honestly, you know as well as I do that they don’t work anyway. (When was the last time I finished a book on time? Exactly. You see my point.)
My new plan is to keep you guys updated on what I’m writing here on the blog, as well as on Facebook and Instagram, so you’ll know what I’m working on. Make sure to follow me on social media if you haven’t already!
As always, though, the best way to keep up to date with new releases is to join the Readers’ Group. Then I’ll email you as soon as a new book comes out. (And you’ll get some freebies, which is always fun!)
So here are some books I think I’ll probably write this year, but hey, who knows?
- New Year, Screw You (Charlie Davies Book 9) – This one will be done this year, I promise. In February. It just keeps growing longer and longer, so it’s taking more time than I’d originally planned. (And also I keep accidentally writing paranormal romances instead of working on it, so there’s that.)
- Hellfire Shire Romances – One of these is almost finished already, and I have a million other ideas swirling around for more. I’m so excited for you to read these books! Who doesn’t want some vampire/werewolf/unicorn cowboy rom-coms to read? Exactly, my friends. Exactly.
- Gods and Frauds (Damned Girl Book 6) – Not quite sure when I’ll be writing this one. I plan to re-read all the old books first just to make sure I don’t mess anything up, so it could be a little while. But all the paranormal romances are set in the same world, so at least you’ll have something to hold you over, right?
- Gone Ghoul (Baxter & Co. Book 2) – This will be out after Charlie Davies 9 but before book 10. It’s all outlined and partly written, so it’ll definitely be out at some point this year. (Hark the Herald Angels Sting, book 3, will be out before Charlie 10 as well. But don’t worry, you won’t have to wait until Christmas for it to come out. Probably. Unless I’m really off my game.)
And hey, maybe I’ll end up writing something completely different as well. Who knows?
Thank you for sticking with me despite my notoriously flakey ways. Even though I’ve completely ditched my schedule, I’m pretty sure I’m going to release more books this year than I’ve ever put out before, so I hope you’ll forgive me.
OK, I should get back to writing all those books I just told you about. Charlie, Adam and Eli are about to have a game of Dungeons and Dinosaurs, so I’d better not keep them waiting. 😉
Don’t forget, the best way to keep up to date with my books is to join the Readers’ Group. Then I’ll email you as soon as a new novel comes out, as well as send you some sneak peeks into upcoming books and details about any sneaky sales I’m having. (And of course you’ll get your freebies too.)
